Living Well with Chronic Conditions
Living Well Workshops
As members of the Oregon Medical Insurance Pool (OMIP), beginning January 1, 2007, you are eligible to attend the 'Living Well with Chronic Conditions' workshops as a benefit of your health insurance plan.
 
This chronic condition self-management program, developed and tested by Stanford University, was especially created for people with asthma, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and other chronic health concerns. Sessions are held for 2½ hours each week for six weeks. The program teaches practical skills for living a healthy life with an ongoing health condition and is designed to complement and enhance medical treatment and disease management.

  • Better communication
  • How to relax
  • Handling difficult emotions
  • Tips for eating well
  • Safe, easy exercise
 
Who is eligible?
All OMIP members age 18 and above.
 
How do I enroll?
Call Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon (Regence), toll-free at 1-866-543-5765 during normal business hours and they can help you find a workshop location that is most convenient for you.
 
Cost of the program
These workshops can range from $0 to $50, however, OMIP will reimburse the total amount a member pays, if the member has completed at least 4 of the 6 sessions of the enrolled workshop. Please make sure to contact Regence at 1-866-543-5765 to obtain the correct claim form for reimbursement.

Workshops are not available in every county, please contact Regence to find the one closest to you or log on to the following web address: http://oregon.gov/DHS/ph/livingwell/ and select 'Find a workshop' under the 'Living Well Workshops' section.
